I followed these directions. And I inserted a proxy from this site. I go to one of those show my ip sites and my IP does change when I activate. BUT.. The new ip isnt what I expect it to be (assume it would be same as ip put into proxy settings taken from this site). Whats the deal? P.S. One more thing dont I need to disable JAVA? ? TIA!!!!

sometimes its a whole network of ip addresses, also called a gateway, the IP should be similar and it should not cause any trouble. Yes u need java 2 be disabled because some people can use java to detect ur real IP address. There is a proxy setting for java to enable proxies if u really need it.

I disable three Java Plugins used by internet explorer. I seem to remember a radio button in IE to disable Java, but did not find in IE6. Will this achieve desired results? Thanks for help...

not the plugins but java itself in ie.
Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.01, 5.5, 6:
a. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, click the Security tab, click the Internet Web content zone, and then click Custom Level. b. In the Settings box, scroll down to the Scripting section, and click Disable under Active scripting and Scripting of Java applets. c. Click OK, and then click OK again.
